Introducing the Dermalogica BioSurface Peel

The BioSurface Peel is Dermalogica’s first chemical peel and a powerful skin resurfacing system, designed to work in synergy with the skin’s chemistry. Only the experienced Dermalogica skin specialists are trained to perform this treatment to ensure the safe removal of the dull, outer layers of the skin. Chemical peels are one of the most sought after professional skin services today. They are used to create a controlled injury of a specific depth.

The goal:  To stimulate new epidermal and dermal growth to improve skin texture an appearance. Concerns such as texture, tone of the skin, sun damage, ageing and underlying congestion can be addressed with the new BioSurface Peel system. Some chemical peels can be very aggressive and recovery can take up to several months. Side effects like discoloration, inflammation and scarring is common. There is no downtime when it comes to the BioSurface Peel.  It is not only cost effective but comes with far less toxicity.

Method:  The Skin care therapist will do a thorough medical history and skin analysis session to determine if the client is a suitable candidate for this treatment.  When the green light is given, the 4-step layering technique and procedure begins:

Step 1: Prep solution – Beta Hydroxy Acid (Salicylic Acid) helps to dissolve and decrease surface oils. Skin is left soft and smooth with no irritation.  This solution preps the skin for better penetration of active ingredients.

Step 2: Enzyme Active – Pumpkin fruit extract and the enzyme, Papain is used to break apart skin cells and digest skin proteins.  This action will stimulate cellular resurfacing and promotes the peeling process.

Step 3: Acid Active – A Lactic and Phytic Acid solution will now be applied in series of thin layers (not more than 5).  The thinner the layer…the better the penetration of the actives to ensure optimal results.  It will leave the skin not only with a smoother texture, but it will be hydrated and brightened!

Step 4: De-celerator – Sodium Bicarbonate and Yeast Extract (Smoothing Botanicals) rapidly calms irritation and reduce redness to return the skin to a renewed state and natural pH. After a peel, side effects may include:  slight itching, redness and tightness and also fine flaking within a week. The client’s skin condition and concern will impact on how frequently the treatment is performed.  Multiple series or a course may be performed to get desired results.

Post Peel Home care:  The Dermalogica BioSurface Aftercare kit will be an excellent choice to use for a few days after the peel.  Your Skin therapist will advise which products will be excellent for long term use.  Sunscreen must be used daily to avoid further sun damage.

Contra-indications:  Diabetic, pregnancy, epilepsy, pacemakers, metal implants, high blood pressure and loss of skin sensation.
