Dermalogica Clear Start – the new way of controlling acne in younger clients

After the success of Clean Start, it is still out with the old and in with the new!  There will always be new developments and improvements and for this reason … the launch of Clear Start, the acne fighter for the younger skin.

To control acne, the focus should be on reducing the amount of oil secretion by keeping overactive sebaceous glands in check.  This is done by hydrating the skin and making sure to not use any harsh products that have a drying affect.

The following sebum regulating ingredients are used in Clear Start:  Niacinamide, African Whitewood Bark, Meadowsweet and Saw Palmetto.

The next step in controlling acne is to banish bacteria.  Try not to touch your skin after cleansing.  It is best to wipe your mobile phone at least once a day.  Ingredients assisting in controlling bacteria are Meadowsweet, Salicylic acid, Tea tree oil and Sulfur.

Inflammation must also be kept down.   We are all aware of the redness around a pustule or nodule.  By using the correct ingredients, inflammation could be reduced and healing promoted.  Green Tea, Camphor, Oleanolic Acid and Licorice are true winners to reduce inflammation in the skin.

A multi-step approach is the best way to reduce the appearance of acne according to the skin experts from Dermalogica.  Clear Start with potent, yet gentle ingredients is formulated to get the job done without irritating or drying out the skin.

Clear Start was developed as a 3-step system with targeted products for extra clearing.

The first step consists of Cleansing with the Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash used in the mornings and evenings.  Step 2 is toning with Breakout Clearing All Over Toner which will assist in reducing inflammation whilst having a slight exfoliating action and the same time sebum secretion is reduced.  Tea tree has an antiseptic action.

Following up with the Breakout Clearing Daytime Treatment is the third step to treat and moisturise.   It is used in the morning and can be used on problem areas or as a thin layer all over.  Follow with the Oil Clearing Matte Moisturiser Spf 15 to protect against damaging UVA and UVB radiation and to control surface shine.

The ‘Extra Clearing’ products available from Clear Start are:  The Breakout Clearing Cooling Masque to calm irritation and sooth the skin – use 3 – 5 times per week.  The Breakout Clearing Emergency Spot Fix to kill bacteria and clear breakouts fast.  For night time the Breakout Clearing Overnight Treatment is advised to calm inflammation, reduce the secretion of excess oil and shine and the Tea Tree has an antibacterial action. The Cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid is excellent in hydrating skin.
