Why we choose Dermalogica?

When I made the decision to study to become a skin therapist, I never had a moment’s doubt about having Dermalogica as part of my business.

For many years I battled to find the right product for my not only sensitive skin type, but also sensitised skin through my sport and outdoor lifestyle and to add to that, having used the wrong products.

I remember asking advice and trying the one skin care salon after another and over the counter products, just to be disappointed and for the product to end up in the dustbin.  Returning it for a refund at the shop where I bought it over the counter, was just impossible.

Then about 17 years ago Dermalogica entered the South African market and I was introduced to their basic skin care: cleanse, tone, moisturise.  The difference was phenomenal and since then, I have never looked back.

My dealings with the company while planning my clinic in Fish Hoek was only a pleasure.  From the very beginning their professionalism was impressive. They were incredibly well organised and showed high standards – I couldn’t wait to enrol for their training seminars.Jane Wurwand

Dermalogica was founded by Jane Wurwand, a skin therapist who recognised the more serious edge of skin care. In 1983, Jane started the International Dermal Institute (IDI) in Los Angeles.   Today, IDI is considered the international gold-standard for postgraduate skin and body therapy training.
While teaching at the IDI, Jane decided to develop her own product line to embrace her belief of skin ‘health’ opposed to ‘beauty’. Her product line would be without skin irritants and artificial colours or fragrances and not tested on animals. The products would only be available from skin therapy professionals trained at the IDI. It is sold only after a professional consultation and at skin centres where  professional Dermalogica treatments are performed by professional skin therapists.

To have an authentic Dermalogica face treatment is to know there is a difference between just being pampered and receiving a treatment that is both relaxing and result orientated.  We don’t  just like it…..we love it!
